- Sam Procedures
To improve your access to the Library’s public computer terminals for Internet and word processing, software called SAM has been installed on the Library’s computers.
SAM allows you to log on to our public computers with a library card from any Nassau County public library. You will be asked to create a PIN number which will become your personal account number along with your library card barcode, to use whenever you use the public computers at the Library.
If you don’t have a library card, Library staff can print a guest pass for you to allow you a computer session when visiting the Library.
SAM tracks your computer session time and printing activity. Nassau County library cardholders can enjoy up to two one-hour computer sessions per day. Guest pass users are allowed one one-hour session per day. Printing charges are 10 cents a page for black and white, 50 cents per page for color.
Patrons may save documents to a flash drive, or e-mail documents to their home to save printing charges. SAM Computers will not save documents or information on the drive, therefore a flash drive is necessary to store information.
